How strong is strong
Length beats complexity. A 20-character lowercase-only password is stronger than a 10-character one with symbols, and far easier to type on a phone. Aim for 16 characters minimum, 20 or more for anything that protects money.
Why the character sets skip some letters
l, I, 1, O and 0 are excluded so you can read a password aloud or retype it from a screen without guessing.
What the entropy number means
Bits of entropy is a log scale: each additional bit doubles the search space. Above about 80 bits, offline cracking becomes impractical for any current hardware.
