What the free plan actually gives you
The format matrix is the selling point — over 300 pairs, including obscure ebook and CAD formats. The free tier allows 100 MB per file and a limited amount of conversion time per day, after which you wait until it resets.
For documents it is usually faster than CloudConvert because the queue is less loaded. For anything near the file-size cap, or for video, the time limit bites quickly and you end up back on a paid plan.
Where it breaks
- 100 MB per file is restrictive for video
- Daily time budget runs out fast
- Some formats are conversion-quality limited on free
What we would use instead
If the limits above are a problem, the closest free substitutes are CloudConvert and PDF24 Tools. They are not identical — each one trades something different — but all of them let you finish a job without paying.

Questions people actually ask
What is the free file size limit?
100 MB per file, with a daily cap on total conversion time rather than a fixed file count.
Does it add watermarks?
No watermarks on output. The restriction is size and daily time, not branding.
Which is better, Convertio or CloudConvert?
Convertio for document and ebook formats; CloudConvert for video and large files.
